Veneto

Groot en heel veelzijdig wijngewest in het noordoosten van Italië, begrensd door de Alpen, het Gardameer, de Po en de Adriatische Zee. De bestuurlijke hoofdstad van Veneto is Venetië, maar de wijnhoofdstad ervan is Verona. Alleen al uit de directe omgeving van deze stad komen drie van de bekendste stille Italiaanse wijnen: Soave, Valpolicella (inclusief Amarone) en Bardolino. Ook de wereldwijde bestseller prosecco komt uit Veneto. Veneto als algemene herkomstbenaming slaat meestal op eenvoudige wijnen zonder specifieke herkomst, vaak van internationale druivenrassen.
