Alto Adige

Voluit: Alto Adige-Südtirol. Dit wijngebied in het uiterste noorden van Italië, met een prachtig landschap, hoorde tot 1919 bij Oostenrijk. Ook tegenwoordig is het, als gebied met autonome status, nog overwegend Duitstalig. Wijnbouw vindt plaats in de valleien van de rivieren Etsch (Adige) en Eisack (Isarco) en op hellingen tot 1000 meter hoogte. Dit terroir verleent de wijnen een onmiskenbare lichtvoetigheid. Visitekaartje van de streek zijn zuivere, elegante en aromatische wijnen. De meeste daarvan zijn wit en doorgaans gemaakt van één druivenras, zoals pinot bianco, pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc en chardonnay.
